Slackware: Short Interview with Robby Workman, Community Server

A short interview with Robby Workman, who is part of the informal team helping out with the development of Slackware Linux, on the release of Slackware 13.37 can be found on Slack World. I happen to think that it's a great release, very stable, and the 11 months invested were worth it. But then, I can't comment on the performance of KDE 4 because I usually do a custom install with Xfce, Window Maker, and this time also LXDE from ponce (see my article on setting up LXDE on Slackware further down).

Second, I'ld like to draw attention to a message posted on usenet by Robby on alt.os.linux.slackware relating to the server that is hosting slackbook.org, slackpkg.org, sbopkg.org and several other services the Slackware community values, as well as mirroring Xfce.

To make a long story short, http://cardinal.lizella.net is on its last legs and needs to be replaced as soon as possible.  That box hosts quite a few things that the Slackware community apparently likes, so we are hoping that the community will help us with the financial demands of replacing the machine. See the original message (with more details) here: http://lists.slackbuilds.org/pipermail/slackbuilds-users/2011-May/007448.html

Note that the http://cardinal.lizella.net homepage has a handy donation button (that does not require a paypal account) if you'd prefer to use that.
Finally, this is just a reminder that after we purchase a box to replace cardinal, any unused funds will be given directly to Patrick Volkerding, and the donation button will disappear.
Thanks in advance for your consideration,
-- Robby Workman and the rest of the Cardinal Crew  :-)
