Slax 7.0 Getting Closer

Since the announcement that he has secured some major corporate sponsors for taking up the development of Slax again Tomas M has been hard at work. You can read about the ongoing updates on his blog if you want to follow how the next Slax is taking shape.

Slax is still hugely popular although it hasn't had a final release in more than three years.
There's literally been a flood of posts in the last few weeks and new images are available for testing every week. The latest snapshot comes with Linux kernel 3.6.2 and the Blackbox window manager as research in how to strip down Qt 4 and KDE SC dependencies is still ongoing. We also get a nice Slax logo at boot up time now instead of a non-descript Tux. Why not, if Arch can do it?

Slax 7.0 will be released before 24th December 2012 and uses Slackware 14.0 as base. Future updates will follow Slackware-Current.
